This past Wednesday, Emily and Parker started soccer. They did not have a coach for Emily's team, so I agreed to coach her team. It's great! We have a good bunch of kids that are there to have fun!
On Friday June 20, I had a tooth pulled at the dentist and am still recovering from that. I got a dry socket, which has been the most painful thing I have had to deal with in a long time, well, about 5.5 years. On Saturday we went to LaGoon with Jamie, Axel, Bodo and Share. It was fun. Emily really wanted to go on the ferris wheel, but we got there 10 minutes after the ride closed. So, on July 10th, we're going back to LaGoon with my parents. John will have to work so he can't go with us, but I promised Emily she could ride on the ferris wheel. :)
Emily is really excited for soccer. She has two games a week (one on Tuesday and one on Wednesday). Parker is also excited and he has games on Tuesday and Thursday. So, for three days a week, we have soccer to go to.
What else is new? My family decided to start our own Biggest Loser challenge. We're all working toward being thinner for Christmas. We'll see how it goes. So far, I've lost 6 pounds! WOO HOO!
John also had a tooth pulled at the dentist. His recovery is much better than mine. His tooth came out in one whole piece, mine came out in more than 10 pieces. His just had to be pulled, mine had to be chisled out of my head! Plus he didn't get a dry socket.
Emily has lots of friends that love to come over and play with her. When they do, Parker joins in the fun and keeps them entertained when they run out of things to do.
Parker loves to tell jokes and can now read. He is always surprising me with what he reads. I guess the days of John and I spelling words out to each other so we can keep secrets from the kids are over. We don't do it very often, but it sure came in handy around Christmas and birthday times.
Recently I was reading in my scriptures in the book of Nephi. Nephi was talking about how his brothers wanted to kill him so he could not be the prophet or their "leader". Now, this is not anything new to someone familiar with the Book of Mormon, but what really struck me is that Nephi said it sufficed him to simply say that his brothers wanted him dead. He didn't waste his time complaining about what they said or did. He just got straight to the point. So, as a reminder, I wrote in my scriptures that Nephi was no gossip. I have been trying to be more like that.
Well, now that things at work are calm and I have some more free time on my hands not having to work overtime, I have time to do other things. I'll get some photos on here from the last soccer games as soon as John downloads his camera and sends me some. Love to you all!
