In January, John's nice camera broke. He'd been using it for taking pictures at home and at work. Since the creeps at the theatre never paid John for the pictures he took, we couldn't expect them to reimburse him for his camera. The gears had gotten worn out. So, John was without a camera for a couple of months.
We spent some time at Mike's house one evening playing on the Wii, my birthday came and went and Parker drew an awesome picture of an astronaut.
February came and Dad received his Silver Beaver award in Scouting. We had the opportunity to go and see him be honored and take some fun pictures. We all made it to his "section" before he did so we took some pictures where we could photoshop him in later. It was funny. We always have a great time when we get together as a family. No matter what we do.
John got the new Bioshock game (Bioshock 2) and built some legos to commemorate the occasion. He also got Pink Eye and went to work with it.
The cute Riley was born (a.k.a. The Preciousness of all Preciousnessnessnessnessness....). She is adorable and is loved very much!!
Parker also got a Hermit Crab for his birthday. He got to pick it out. He named his crab Crabby. A few weeks later, Emily saved her money and bought herself a crab and name him Swirly. John later got one (with a Spider-man) shell from the Easter Bunny. John named his crab Patty Johansen.
March came and we were so excited to be on track to get back on our feet financially since January of last year when I was laid off. Except, this was not in the cards for us thanks to the lack of competent management at the theatre. If you want to know the whole story I'll tell you, but to make a long, story short, John's boss was a completely intimidated nincompoop who wrote John up for some nonsense... only counseled him to talk to I.T. about unblocking necessary websites...gave him one week to improve...fired him one week after writing him up based on the "review"...had John's replacement start the same afternoon John was fired. We were told we should fight it, but decided that we didn't want to go down that road. I do, however, question the ethics of the LHM company. Apparently this wasn't an isolated incident. As incompetent as this was handled, this was a very good thing for us, despite the fact that now we have no insurance and Linkin still needs to have surgery.
April came, Easter, Emily's birthday, John got a new camera, which brought more of John's photos.
May came, Mother's Day, which I got some flowers. It was a nice day, I got to spend it with my kids, my husband and my family.
June came, we took a trip with my family to Bear Lake. It was amazing. We were extremely blessed to get the master bedroom that had the AWESOME view of the lake, the master bathroom with a jetted tub and a huge flat screen television. I loved being there, away from everything else. It was a great distraction to all of the stress. We were also blessed to have Allison take care of our pets while we were away. We got to spend some time on the beach hanging out and goofing off. We also watched the US world cup game. One evening we had the special honor of listening to my parents bear their testimonies to us and talk about their feelings on preparing to go on a mission. I love them so much and am so grateful for all they do for our little family.
Now it is July. I have grown so much in my trust in the Lord. I see how He takes care of all of us and I have tried to put more action in to showing how grateful I am. It is always interesting to me to see how things work out.
My Uncle Gene passed away on Friday (July 2). He went into the hospital not feeling well on Tuesday, he had been sick for at least a couple of months. In the ER they decided to rush him off to surgery and it was discovered that he had intestinal cancer that had spread to his colon and liver. There was nothing that could be done about it, he bravely made the decision to pass away on Friday. His wife, Alice, has been a trooper through the whole thing, she is a great example to me.
John is still looking for a job (as well as benefits so we can go to the doctor and dentist again). I hate how long this is taking.
I have to hold Linkin now so I'll have to add pictures to this later. Take care and join me in my adventure in getting healthy. I'm going to attempt to start P90X in the morning. We'll see if that's a better time to exercise than at night when my kids want my attention the most.
